… you do not want to work collaboratively. I have a style that is all my own, and I want to help bring your vision to life. However, if you want 100% control and don’t want to work together to make this creation, and just want to puppeteer me, I suggest you find someone willing to go along with that. It’s not an ego thing, it’s more of having a healthy creative environment for me.
… you’re not willing to pay for my services. I do not do TFP or work for exposure. While I absolutely love being creative, I am far past the “portfolio-building stage.” I’m not looking to be the bargain bin, either. I am willing to work with people financially, but in this economy, I cannot undercut myself.
… you don’t like my style. Where people go wrong in hiring a professional photographer is approaching someone they think will be “in the budget” and then showing them examples that look nothing like that creative’s work, and then demanding they meet that design. You need to hire someone whose work you ACTUALLY LIKE.
… you are a homophobe, a bigot, a racist, or any other shitty type of human. Black Lives Matter, Stop Asian Hate, and I’m 100% for the Girls and the Gays. I’m a Queer business owner myself, so if you’re a hater, see yourself out.
If my site doesn’t list it, I don’t do it. That means…
Weddings. Especially ones with burlap placemats and mason jars for drinking glasses. If you want to get married at a concert, I’ll consider that, but no promises. It’s gotta be a bitchin’ idea for me to commit.
Boring Engagement Photos. If you’re super cool and you fit my style, and want to do something unique, it’s a maybe. That means no “I said yes” signs or train tracks, staged picnics, and ‘Dirty Dancing’ lifts. Now, if you want photos at a music venue, a record store, an abandoned building, at a festival, or out smoking some bud, I’m your gal.
Family Portraits, Newborn Photos, etc. It just doesn’t fill my soul. I physically can do it, but I just do not desire to. I’m sure your kids are cute. Still, no thank you.
If you made it this far…
… And I somehow didn’t offend you or if you still meet the criteria,
feel free to reach out and we can craft the perfect photoshoot for you — TOGETHER!
I may sound like a “difficult person” to work with based on what I said above, but I truthfully am not.
I want to weed out those people who aren’t my type of people.
I find that with who I am, I’ve got a hard time pretending,
and need to be honest and speak my mind.
I live 100% authentically and I need to be on the same level of mentality and trust with my clients.
